about our library . . .

Over 10,000 titles including print magazines for both boys and girls are housed within the Stanton Library. An environment conducive to learning is maintained with resources, programs and activities that help children meet the academic standards established for them to become independent and lifelong learners.

All students, grades K-5, attend weekly scheduled library classes. They also have the opportunity to visit their library independently through the Noon Recess Program. The library is open to students in first through fifth grade during lunch recess where they may opt to read, play board games or engage in some other quiet activity, either provided by the librarian or that which they may bring with themselves.

Fourth and fifth grade students who wish to engage in community service have the opportunity to join the Student Library Aide Club. Each member performs a library task on his assigned day. Members also assist with the Authors Birthday Club reading incentive program.

The Authors Birthday Club motivates students to read. Every student, grades one through five, is eligible to become a member by reading literature written by any of the celebrated authors. Each reading participant is invited to the authors birthday party held monthly during noon recess in the library. There is a new Authors Birthday Party at the end of each month throughout the school year.

Volunteers are welcomed and encouraged to get involved. Join the Friends of the Stanton Elementary School Library...
