Castro Valley Unified School District Appoints 

Elizabeth Duran Contreras 

for

Castro Valley Elementary Principal

 

Castro Valley, CA – (May 9, 2023) – At the May 9th board meeting, the Castro Valley Unified School District Board of Education took action to select Elizabeth Duran Contreras for the position of Castro Valley Elementary Principal. 


Ms. Contreras serves as a Response to Intervention Specialist at Castro Valley Elementary School supporting students and staff with Tier 1, 2, and 3 instruction and appropriate intervention strategies. She leads Professional Learning Communities, professional development, and data-driven conversations with staff. Ms. Contreras has handled all aspects of the elementary summer school program as a principal at Castro Valley Unified for the past two summers. She strongly believes in mentoring future teachers as she has volunteered her time for six years to teach and mentor teachers in Castro Valley. Ms. Contreras has led professional development in Literacy Best Practices, as well as a mentor teacher in the committee for literacy.   


Ms. Contreras earned her Bachelor's in Psychology and Multiple Subject credential from California State University, Northridge. She holds an administrative credential from the University of Southern California and earned her Master's in Educational Leadership from Grand Canyon University.
