Castro Valley Unified School District Appoints 

Affie Sklut

for

Director of Educational Services - Elementary Curriculum

 

Castro Valley, CA – (April 26, 2023) – At the April 26th board meeting, the Castro Valley Unified School District Board of Education took action to appoint Affie Sklut for the position of Director of Educational Services - Elementary Curriculum as of July 1, 2023.


Ms. Affie Sklut embarked on her journey as a teacher at Castro Valley Elementary (CVE) 25 years ago. She taught Kindergarten - 4th grades before moving into the Response to Intervention position, providing reading support to students. In February 2017, she became Principal at CVE, where she prioritized the implementation of high-performing Professional Learning Communities and a robust Multi-Tiered System of Supports rooted in equity. During her tenure as principal,  she and her staff were awarded the California Distinguished School Award in February 2020. In June, Ms. Sklut was awarded the Marcus Foster Valuing Diversity Award. 


Ms. Affie Sklut earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, Master in Educational Leadership, and Administrative Credential from Cal State University, East Bay. Mrs. Sklut completed the Curriculum and Instruction Leadership Academy through ACSA in May 2022.
