 Castro Valley Unified School District Appoints 

Yoko Ostreicher

as Assistant Special Education Director  

and SELPA Director

 

Castro Valley, CA – (March 27, 2024) – At the March 27th board meeting, the Castro Valley Unified School District Board of Education took action to select Yoko Ostreicher as the Assistant Special Education Director (.5) and Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) Director (.5) starting the 2024 - 2025 school year. 

 

Ms. Ostreicher has dedicated her career to special education with over 22 years of experience.  She began as a teacher and has been a special education administrator for 14 years.  Ms. Ostreicher has been with Castro Valley Unified since 2015 as the Preschool and Elementary Special Services Coordinator and Interim Director.  As she started her tenure in Castro Valley, she reimagined the Special Education program with a focus on the elementary level. Her focus provided for the continuity of programs that included grades Kindergarten through fifth-grade to provide equitable access across the district. In 2021, she was the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) Region 6 winner for Special Education Administrator of the Year. 

 

Ms. Ostreicher earned her Bachelor of Arts dual degree in General Education and Special Education from Boston University.  She earned her Master’s Degree in Special Education from Loyola Marymount University and her Administrative credential from Chapman University.  Ms. Ostreicher completed the Special Education Academy through ACSA in 2022.
